About the project

The project involved the comprehensive demolition of the historic Unitra Polkolor CRT plant in Piaseczno, one of the largest factories in the region. The facility’s vast surface area, which at its peak employed over 5,000 workers, required a comprehensive approach to demolition. We began our work with a detailed analysis of the structure and the development of a demolition plan that took into account the safety of the surrounding buildings and maximizing the recovery of materials. A particular challenge was the removal of asbestos elements, which required a specialist approach in accordance with environmental protection regulations. We used advanced selective demolition techniques that allowed for the safe demolition of the building complex without affecting the neighboring buildings. We worked with the Piaseczno Museum to secure valuable historical memorabilia, including photographs, plans and equipment.

Challenges

The huge facility, which at its peak employed over 5,000 workers, required a comprehensive approach to demolition.
Distinctive structural elements, including the so-called 'Robertsons' on the roof of the CRT glassworks, posed a technical challenge during demolition.
The need to preserve historical memorabilia and equipment for the Piaseczno Museum, including the control cabinet of the cone line from the CRT glassworks.

Our solutions

We used advanced selective demolition techniques that allowed us to safely demolish the building complex without affecting neighboring buildings.
We worked with the Piaseczno Museum to secure valuable historical memorabilia, including photos, plans, and furnishings.
We implemented a comprehensive process of segregating and recycling building materials, minimizing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Results

Safe demolition of a historic industrial complex that operated from 1976-1991 as the Unitra-Polkolor Kineskop Works, and later under other names until 2009.
Recovery and recycling of a significant portion of construction materials, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection.
Preparation of the site for a new investment, enabling further economic development of the area after the end of the kinescope production era.
